I’m Brodie — founder, creator, and candle pourer behind the brand.
What began in a small kitchen, crafting candles I couldn’t afford to buy, has grown into a design-led home fragrance studio rooted in memory, ritual, and emotion.

My love for candles started young, but it was in 2010 — after moving out with a tight budget — that I began making my own. I couldn’t justify spending on luxury candles, so I decided to learn the craft myself. Soon I was pouring blends for friends, family, and myself, unknowingly laying the foundation for what btncl. would become.

In 2020, my decade-long career as an international flight attendant came to a sudden halt. The stillness of the pandemic gave rise to something new — the idea to create something lasting. A brand that captured moments in scent. A way to hold space for stillness, familiarity, and feeling.

Each scent is inspired by the landscapes, botanicals, and moments that shape us — from forest air to late sun, quiet afternoons to open windows. Our sense of smell is powerfully tied to memory, and every candle is designed to evoke something personal, nostalgic, or grounding.

We believe fragrance should feel intentional — and so should the object that holds it. Our vessels are designed to be reused, and our packaging is crafted from at least 70% recycled materials, with a goal of 80% by 2026. Sustainability isn't a statement for us — it’s a standard.
